(EPA photo)PARIS -- Emmanuel Macron, the pro-European Union victor in the French presidential election, was sworn in Sunday as the youngest French president in history. The 39-year-old Mr Macron won a runoff on May 7, beating Front National candidate Marine Le Pen by a wide margin, which brought relief to markets worried about the spread of populism. Mr Macron, a former bureaucrat and investment banker, formed a political movement in April 2016 and resigned in August as minister of economy, industry and digital affairs in the socialist administration of Francois Hollande to run in the presidential election.
